OK, this will be the first of many of tutorials I will be posting (hopefully) of some modding. Most of these things will be simple.
Requirements:
HHT (Halo Hacker Tools)
HMT (Halo Map Tools, preferrably 3.5 or 3)
OK, take a standard Bloodgulch map, or any map with vehicles in it, and open it with HMT. Here's what to do:
1. Find the Damage section on the list (!jpt or look for Damage) and open it.
2. Notice the globals for the vehicles (globals\vehicle_).
3. What you need to do with these is set the damage of ALL of them to 100,000 (this will set the impact damage when you hit an object, say environment or scenery).
4. Also, set all of their force to 4 to 6. This will make you "bounce" when you hit the object. Note that some objects will send you flying and hit the barrier and get your vehicle stuck. An example is ramming the tree at red base.
5. Now, if you want an actual explosion effect use HHT and open up the same map, otherwise quit here.
6. Now go to collision model section. This handles the impact effects, so what we want to do is replace the cyborg shield depletion effect with the tank explosion effect. Once in this section, select:
characters\cyborg\cyborg
7. You will see a list on the right side of HHT now. What you want to do here is select:
characters\cyborg\cyborg shield depletion
on the right side of HHT on the same list I mentioned in step 6.
8. Now while having that selected, click the drop down box at the bottom right of HHT. You will want to select:
vehicles\scorpion\shell explosion using this drop down list. DO NOT CLOSE HHT.
9. Press Swap, and now the effect of the shield depletion is replaced with a tank explosion effect. You are done! Now play the map and run into a scenery object with a warthog. Note that some vehicles won't work as effectively as other vehicles.
If you want the explosion to work successfully, make sure the gametype you play on has shields.
