If you guys see a new member, check the IP to make sure there's not a dup out there. The lastest new guy had 2 other accounts. If you delete an account, make sure you recount members. Which account to delete you ask? Use your best judgement. If it drops the number of members below whats being reported on the forum's topic, (up to you) you might want to make a post pointing this out. No need to name names, just a reason why the number dropped. Around 1025, I'm going to start removing inactive members....slow enough to hold the 1k....

Since that thread started, I must have deleted around 20 accounts.....I couldn't be bothered writing up each.....was too much.
I think this thread is a waste of time, as it is only inspiring members to break the rules!

Well guys, Drop Point is the deleted account. I saw in the security logs that Cutter found a bogus account. I quickly PM'd him not to recount members. BUT! after find out this info, I did the recount.
After we get a true 1000, lets let it ride for a bit to hold it.
Update: From the PM's I got from him, seems the wine clouded his judgement. If you see the 1000 member, check him out and if good......lets move on....LOL!

No, no... the one I deleted wasn't drop point. It was "asexyfrog" who has an account under ghcsxyfrog.
This was my pm to him:
AND here was his reply:

LOL! Drop Point was the one who started another account and deleted it. He did this to make it 1000.
Ya know....after all this 1k stuff, routers and IP addresses, I'm wondering if we should stop wasting our time here. Unless someone sends up a red flag, do we really care?? 90% of the members signed up to get the mods. We should just view this as a guest book, if you will!
Maybe just stay focused on the future, not the past...huh!
What's your thought?

How many members would we have left if all unactivated accounts or accounts with zero total posts were deleted? How bout if someone doesn't log in for a year?
200?

My idea is similar to what was just mentioned.....
All accounts that have been inactive for a year should be removed.....
This will remove anyone who simply came here to get the mods and move on. (Most forum's I'm a member of, usually remove year old inactive accounts to keep the lists clear of "Dead Wood")
Also any accounts unactivated after a few months should be removed...
That is just a few ideas for you Skel!

Well yes I would agree about dead wood. On the other hand....I'm looking at alot of work removing posts. 1000 member sure does look nice huh?
Cleaning up the members list sounds like a months worth of work, for 1 guy...LOL! As far as zero posts go, you can't judge by that. Zero posts, last logged in 2 years ago....well thats different. Some come to just read.
My thoughts right at this moment goes like this.... heck, small forum, ahhh just let it ride. When it gets way past the 1k mark, time to slowly get rid of the 2 year, zero post people.
For some strange reason, the more members a forum has, the more likely a person will join...go figure!

Recently Proboards has included a few extra Admin search topics....
One is "Search for Unactivated Accounts"....this yelds a huge number of accounts, with a huge number of the accounts having been there for some time, unactivated.. Upon a quick check...heaps have not been touched since 2005! My opinion...if the accounts are not activated within 4 months of their creation...they will never be activated!......and should be removed..
I'll start here and weed through the old ones that will most likley never be used....
Another selection that allows you to see all the accounts with a certain number of posts...This is also handy, as you can go and see who is active and who isnt...
And one more that you can set it to show those members that have not logged in say for 500 days...(This revealed a huge number of accounts)
I'll spend as much of tomorrow as I can, weeding through these if you like and remove any that have not been accessed for at lease 9 months or more.....I'm keen to get this done, and to reveal the real number of users of this forum.
Just say the word boss and I'm on it like a rash on a surfers armpits!

Well that would drop the members list below 1000. That would probably start a riot at this time.....LOL!
Right now unless someone sends up a red flag, forget about it for awhile.
