Surviving a fall in Geph would basically mean that you are falling forever dude....
There is no known floor, just an endless drop into eternity...

I have tried this slingshot, there is a floor, and you CAN walk on it. Vehicles however do not make it, as they hit an invisible floor that the cyborg falls right through. However, if fall damage is off, you can drive the hog off the side and it is POSSIBLE to land on the invisible floor and drive the warthog around. You just cant take the vehicles to the bottom floor.

Yup, we were playing in skels Gephyrophobia map with dev trainer (fall damage off, deathless players on) and if you fall with a vehicle and land it right in the invisible barrier you can drive around, but it only works with hogs (and maybe tanks). If you miss you will just fall to the bottom, but if you have Skelito's snipers you can keep shooting down next to the pillar and you will eventually "blow" your self back up, lol AOF took some footage when we did that, and we took a lot of screenies, just in case anyone is interested

I was in a server that actually was like SDTM but infinite ammo on every weapon and portals were at the bottom.
I would say it could be a good idea but at the same time people would camp from down there and just blow others away that fall down...

Personally I wouldn't make it so you can get to the bottom.

that is not entirely true. u could just blow the campers up while ur falling down or jsut blow them up from the top. there isnt any secret camping spots down there that ive seen. so i still think it would be kool.

I've played Geph maps before that allowed you to survive the fall, and depending on your graphics settings it can be as foggy as hell down there, which makes for some interesting encounters.
But it's true, for those with fog turned off, one would be a sitting duck down there. To be fair, they're WAY down there and it's hard to see them that far, but while down there you really have NO advantage. It's just cool to be down there. It's WICKED fun with fog on, since you can't see more than 15 feet, and guys just appear out of nowhere from the fog.
I wouldn't mind being able to survive the fall, since then I could jump off the outer ledges and shoot at guys on the way down (while being invulnerable to splash damage at the same time). It doesn't provide anyone an unfair advantage, and I'd have to run like crazy towards the portal back up before somebody jumped after me, so it might be a fun addition.

I think it could be cool...
Here is an idea. Allow players to fall to the bottom without dying and put 4 portals (with green portal screens for visibility) at each face of the base of the big pillar down there. These portals would then take you to each corner at the top of the pillar where there would be the only king of the hill location (which you would also have to change). As a team KOTH match you could block the 4 portals if you got 4 team members up top at the same time. However, the spot to block the portal would leave you out in the line of fire.
This way the only ways to get up there would be to try to fly a banshee over (bad idea with Skelito projectiles in the air) or fall to the bottom and race to the portals whilst killing everyone else on their way to the portals as well.
This might be more fun as a shotgun or pistol only match.
What do you guys think?
edit: tried this idea, it doesn't work. Putting anything on the bottom of the Geph map gives exception data (game crashes). Oh well, maybe for CE instead.
