To make sigs I use PaintShop Pro 8, Photoshop 7 and Flash MX, but that's just me, everyone makes sigs in their own way unless they follow tutorials right down to the last smudge on each letter. Oh and also check the main page here www.deviantart.com for other tutorials. To get to them, go to browse, then some drop down menus will appear. The tutorials for creating stuff will be under resources in the the first box, once you have clicked that, another box will appear. In this, select whatever program you are going to use to make your sig from the list under tutorial. You should be able to find a tutorial to help you.

Well Tsunami, I only use paintshop pro 9(Full Version)
Other than a good paint or photoshop program, your imagination is the only thing that you need when creating a sig...
Experiment when creating backgrounds, using different brushes, warping tools, and images....
Creating multiple layers will assist you in fine tuning your overall look...(editing each layer is much faster and easier then re doing the whole sig, if you mess up!!)
If you want particular images, cut them out and paste them into place....
The application of color filters can also enhance the finished product...
With adding text, make sure the text does not hide itself into your background, and make sure the text is clean, crisp and easily readable......
Sometimes a simple lighter or darker outline makes all the difference to the readability...Try also to choose a font that compliments your creation, and enhances the overall look... The main thing is that you have fun creating the sig, and that you experiment with as many tools and effects as needed until you get the desired look.....
If sopme people do not like your creations, well that is their problem, not yours....Take my own sig for example, not many people like it....I DO!!
That is what counts...
I have posted my sigs in quite a few graphics forums, and recieved mixed results......Many people think that I have a "new and Fresh" approach to sig making, and others think that I am an unskilled hack....
You can't please everyone!!
So the most important thing is that you like your creations....!!!!!
