This is my simplified way to install Skelito's mods and make them work.
Download the Modded map from this forum, and do the following:
In the zip file there is a read.me file.
This has the instructions...
Basically it says the following :
The way to install the mod, is to go into the Halo directory of your computer, and look for the directory called maps...
Ok, now in the map folder find the blodgulch.map file and rename it bloodgulch.orig (this makes it so you keep the original map, and can switch the modded for the original easily).
Once this is done, unzip the modded map using winzip, into the maps directory..
This will install the modded map into your comp..
All that is left is to fire up Halo, join into skels server and let your jaw drop when you see all the effects that you miss out on if you don't have the mod.
This is an example of one of the read.me texts, that you will find in the zip file :
You can also take this one step further. Make a new directory in the Halo directory. Dump all the modded maps in there. Then just rename the directories.
Example:
maps <----- original maps
mapsm <----- modded maps (or whatever is easy for you)
When you want to play the mods rename maps to mapso (original) and mapsm to maps.
Reverse this to go back to original maps

Making the Mod Work
Installing the mod is pretty easy. All you need to do is replace your current map
file with the modded version. Halo stores all its map files in the MAPS directory
within Halo. The path to this is usually:
"C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Halo/Maps"
a. First thing to do is find your MAPS directory (Halopc not HaloCE)
b. Back up your old damnation.map then rename it. I Renamed mine damnation.orig
c. Extract with winzip or other zip program and copy the Modded map to the
*....\halo\maps directory, then go play!
NOTE: Just rename the maps to go back to non-modded. I renamed the mod, damnation.mod,
and the damnation.orig back to damnation.map. Hint: Just rename the .extensions
When playing on a modded server or host, with this mod installed on your side, you will
get all the effcts. Explosions, tank shells zipping past your head, the boom sound when
the projectile hits, ect. Warning - Might lag with all the heavy effects..
You be the judge!
