300 was released in both conventional and IMAX theaters in America on March 9, 2007. The film broke box office records, although critics were divided over its look and style. If any of you watched 300 the movie just this year. Your impression of the movie would be very obscene. The movie is filled with Hate, Glory, Patriotism, Violence ALOT OF GORE and Slowmo's.

I went to see this yesterday and I myself havent seen a movie like this since Lord of the Rings. A movie Spartans really brings up the Traits of Halo PC and so you can really adapt to the meaning of this film. The Movie takes place during Anchient times of the Roman Empire (this film dosent mention the Romans) where Sparta is seen as a guy party, Ignorant, Self Centred Civilisation who wouldnt care less for other nations but in the eyes and heart of Spartans they see them selves as Strong, compassionate, Domineering people who are loyal to there empire and people.

The thing that got me pumped up was the fighting and violence they have in this movie, Partically the slowmotion attacks the Spartans do every strike and thrust of the attack. Its very detailed and drifting I have to say.

I started believing this film was based upon a real story and until they started intoducing the Imortals and all those alliances to destroy the spartans. The only let down in this movie for me is when they have 10,000 spartans i nthe end and I dotn get to see that bit.

Well Im not a film reviewer but that is my say on the movie whats yours.

If you have seen it tough, Imagine that in Halo Universe or the Halo Movie. ;D

I thought it was a very well done movie with the slow motion seens and the gore was not the coolest but it was all very good..

I would highly recommend seeing that movie & also seeing the movie Shooter both are very good movies!

It was amazing, probably the second best movie this year.

I have yet to see Grindhouse... looked rather odd from the previews, though.

300 was a great movie; very action-packed and inspiring.

There are a few errors in your assessment above:

1. This movie is about ancient Greece and a particular battle of 300 spartans against the entire Persian army, led by the God-King, Xerxces.

2. They do mention the Romans quite a bit. They call them "Athenians" and refer to them as "philosophers and boy lovers." This particular reference is to the wide-spread homosexuality in Roman culture where women were not even considered human, so it was better to have sex with young boys than it was to have sex with a woman.

3. The Spartans were a proud and honour-centred culture. Sparta was founded by several greek men who had once been slaves but had been released and made Grecian citizens. They took great pride in their heritage.

I started believing this film was based upon a real story and until they started intoducing the Imortals and all those alliances to destroy the spartans.

1. This movie is based on a graphic novel written by Frank Miller (Sin City). The graphic novel is based on an actual battle that took place in Ancient Greece (I believe circa. 400 BCE).

2. Because it was a graphic novel (a glorified comic book) it is not unusual to have elements of fantasy in them. Most of these elements are just exagerations of what is likely recorded fact. For an army that had never seen an elephant or a rhinocerous before, these animals would seem to be "larger than life."

3.Even the immortals were merely just an exageration of what their real characteristics could have been. Because of the size and the overwhelming might of the Persian army, tales of the ferocity of some particular units would have preceded the actual army. With each re-telling of the tales, the horror would likely grow greater and greater.

4. Finally, and this is an important point, history is always written by the winner. Although I haven't heard or seen any of the primary sources, most of them would have been written by Greek historians. Greek culture was based on a polytheistic, pagan religion. The mythos of this religion was based on tales of heroic gods fighting fantastic creatures. It wouldn't be too hard to imagine similar features being woven into the epic tale of King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans.

I personally loved the movie, I'm a sucker for movies based on comics and graphic novels. The cinematography was amazing and the acting was good as well. The entire movie had a feel like it was a graphic novel come to life.

The actors who played the Spartans worked really hard to get into the shape that they were in. Everyday, yhey trained for one hour on weapons and then 2 hours on hard physical training to get into that shape.

The tale is an epic story of loyalty, pride and heroism, but it has a softer side, showing compassion and love between Leonidas and his wife and child. There is political intrigue and historical tidbits throughout.

Definitely a must see. I'll be buying it for sure when it's out on DVD. #thumb#

The Immortals were actual people. They of course weren't monsters, like in the movie, but they existed.

Reason they were called "Immortals," their number never went below 10,000. If 1 died, he was replaced.

Reason for this ingenious plan, to greatly increase the moral of the Persian troops, and to lower that of the opposing army.
(lol I learnt this is in like 5th grade, my father is a strategy buff)

The battle of Marathon was a battle just as the one the Spartans took part in. Greek soldiers led Persians through a narrow path, and destroyed them. And it also showed how foot soldiers could beat an armada.
