~Dedicated server trouble~

Hey, well i have read ALOT of the forums and i have done the port forwarding with halo 1, 2 ,3 i have my init as:
sv_name "Snipers Dream Team Mod8 {Jaws}"
sv_maxplayers 8
sv_public true
sv_ban_penalty 5d 30d 0
sv_mapcycle_timeout 4
sv_tk_ban 3
sv_tk_cooldown 8m
sv_tk_grace 4s
sv_rcon_password "(a normal less then 8 letters long pw, nothing strange like %^*#@$)"
sv_mapcycle_add bloodgulch "CTF"
sv_mapcycle_begin

I have my firewall turned off i have the ports as 2302 and 2303 (because of the port forwarding) so it shouldnt be 2301 2304 i m assuming

I have Halo PC and i have downloaded all the patchs for haloded and halo

Umm i dun think im forgetting anything, i have even had nc]Shady help me BUT there are still some probs

My problems:

(1) When i have haloded running it wont let me join anyone elses server it says retrying, or negocating with server (sorry bout spelling but u get it)

(2) My server wont show up

Please help i have even ressorted to reinstalling haloded and Halo (including all patchs)

nc]Urban and i have just tryed a non-dedi server as well and yet still no luck.

[ p.s i looked threw alot of forums and was advised to make a new thred, sorry if it is a hassel]

well your first problem is the way you have everything set up first of all this is what it should look like



sv_name (your name)
sv_rcon_password (rcon password here)
sv_public true
sv_maxplayers 6

thats what it should look like.


oh ya for the sv_ban_penalty you gotta enter 4 ban penaltys not just 3 so it should look like this

sv_ban_penalty 1d 4d 7d 0 instead of what yours is set up.

I thought something may have been wrong with his init file. I wasn't sure so i didn't mention it.

Anyhow i got him to do a speed test for his connection and it looks like his connection isn't up to standard for no lag.

Yea... and nc]slingshot i did read that thread, and venom i copyed shadys init and his dedi server is up and works so :S lol i dun get alot of it so yea, oh and i did the tutorial on bungie... which is the same one that comes with the dedi server but hey i guess my speed is just to slow or something ah well i m happy enough to just play i guess thanks for all your help guys

when i open mine it says it missing strings.dll hmmmm. and i all ready serch my comp i just dont know.

go to the halo dedicated server files which you can find at the microsoft games file in program files and it should have that strings.dll file whicn you can place on your desktop so dedi would start.
