Less reason to buy H2V

Well I went on the Xfire forums and was looking at the Halo section and I found out that there is no rcon feature in Halo 2 Vista

I kind of think that is stupid....and there also won't be dedi servers?

C'mon Microsoft you idiots...AND you have to pay online to get some additional features unless you already have an xbox live gold account.

Its bull crap and I don't know if I will get this game now...(even though I won't have Vista for like a year)

Perhaps there is an easier way for admins to control their servers? A nice built-in admin panel would be great.

I think it's going to be the same as is on Xbox...hopefully they'll get an rcon feature after awhile though because didn't Halo PC get an update and got rcon after some time??

Wow if they don't get something like Passwords for servers then Microsoft's ass is grass!
At least for the cash they spent on making the game. At least 85% of the servers hosted for Halo are dedicated!
Well unless they have a update that comes out with rcon I will be keeping my $50.

Theres no rcon because theyre programming an auomatic banner for people that use hack or aimbots. And you don't have to pay to get online, its just for multiplayer achievements with gold accounts on live.

Wait, what's this about needing some gold account to play live? If you buy H2V, can't you netplay out of the box like Halo 1? Are there restrictions?

Basically H2V is just like the xbox version of Halo2.

So what you do is you have to buy an Xbox Live Gold which I believe is a 12 month subscription card for me. ( I play on XBL for my X360 )

Boom on Halo2 for Xbox/ Xbox 360 there is no rcon you just have to be party leader and you can do whatever the hell you want..

Party Leader can be passed to anyone even if you don't know them.

So that "Party Leader" goin to H2V would be a bad idea.

PLEASE tell me this is just a joke. You mean to play H2V we're expected to pay $250 for Vista, $50 for the game, and an additional $8 per month just to play the online half of the game that we bought it for???

Sure, i'm paying $15/mo to Blizzard for WOW, but with that I get in-game tech support, not to mention the fact that the game i'm in has THOUSANDS of players. Paying $8/mo or $50/year to M$ just to play in small 16-player games is the biggest joke yet...

dude i think its crazy and lame, i mean for one i was shaky about H2V cuz it required vista and vista is not as great as i would like it. but its only the first vista realease, they will update it better. anyhow back on topic, if i would have to pay for vista then have to pay to play halo online.... i would not get H2V.

also, the only game i have evered paid for to play was wow and i just paid the 5 bucks for one month of when they had that special offer thing going on.

You don't have pay $8 dollars a month to play......... I thought Hawk explained that well.

You can play online for free, you pay $8 dollars a month for the Gold Account, which is so you can achieve things, it like ranks you, and people can view your info, and makes you sound like a good player.

you don't need the gold account, you only need the Silver Account which is free.

Its free to play H2V..

You get 1 month free on the gold account to play, but after that you don't have to give them anymore money.

All and all.

hello there, just thought id clear some things up, havnt read all the topic, dont have time right now, sorry if i repeat anything,

1 - there is a dedi server that comes with the game
2 - not sure about rcon but there is a way to kick/ban people etc. I havnt actually tried hosting a server yet but one of my many new friends ive made playing it hosts servers alot and hes always kicking idiots
3 - no you dont have to pay anything to play. If you have a gold account you can earn achievements like on the xbox 360 and you can play in some matches that other peope cant (theres usually like 8 of these servers compared to 50 free ones, no big deal)

there are a few annoying things though. Microsoft wants you to buy a xbox 360 controller for your pc (you can still use a keyboard and mouse of course) so whenever it tells you to press something it tells you to press it on the controller. took me ages to find what key the right bumper was.

Also, matchmaking and clans? thats gone. You dont get any ranking and you cannot identify who is in what clan like in the xbox version. Your name is your live gamertag, that isnt something you can just go changing whillynilly when you feel like it.
