Fraps

ok, just finished my first set of halo video trials, and here's what I saw with my own eyes using halo materials:

• Sorensen 3 codec does a great job, as does wma 9+
  
• 640x480 gives you good detail, but larger file sizes. Good for high-bandwidth versions.
  
• 320x240 cuts file sizes in half (not a quarter) and quality drops as well. I use this for the low-bandwidth versions.
  
• 15 frames per second is fine. 30 is sweet, but 15 does the job.
  
• BEWARE any Keyframes settings. Set to Auto if possible. Depending on your source material, badly chosen keyframes settings can cost you a ton of space (if set far too frequently or far too rarely.
  
• If you can choose video quality, try medium to high on Sorensen.
  
• 22.050khz audio (depending on the compression) is clear enough (44.100khz is overboard). Personally, i use IMA 4:1 compression.
  
• Mono audio cuts audio space in half (naturally), use it whenever possible if your music doesn't have prominent stereo elements.

where can you get the full version of fraps at? because im thinking about getting the full register version.

ok ill check that out but i think ill have to wait a while to get it though because i have no money

Is there another thing then fraps? When i get fraps it messes up on me where i cant tape anymore....

What do you mean messes up on you? Sort of like what the unregistered version does?

Lol it is the unregistered but my parents wont let me buy the registered. Any other recording devices though..... ;D
