Found this tut on L4YTutorial by ExoStatic.=======HOW TO APPLY MODS TO YOUR HALO!======= Step 1: If the file you downloaded is in .ZIP or .RAR file format, you need to open the ZIP or RAR file and extract the file (which SHOULD be a PPF file) to your Desktop. Step 2: Download PPF-O-Matic, which is used to apply mods to Halo. Download it HERE.*Note: This program is included with the skin packStep 3: Extract the files contained within the Zip file you just downloaded to a folder on your Desktop, or anywhere else easy to find. Step 4: Now to back up your files. You must do this in case you install a mod which you don't like anymore, and want to go back to the original game without having to re-install. Navigate to your Halo MAPS folder, which should be located here : C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\MAPS. Now, once your in that folder, right-click on a blank bit of the folder, and select "New Folder". Rename this folder to something like "Backups". Now, select all the files in the MAPS folder (but NOT your "Backups" Folder) Once you have the files selected, RIGHT-CLICK and select COPY from the list. Then de-select the files, right-click on your Backups folder and select Paste. Due to the size of the files you are copying, this may take a few minutes. Step 5: Once this has completed, it's time to open up your PPF-O-Matic program. Once you have it open, you will see 2 white boxes next to the words "ISO" and "Patch". On the right hand side of these boxes is an image of a floppy disk. Click the floppy disk next to the "ISO" box. Now, browse to the file you want to apply the mod to. For a skin mod, this would be "BITMAPS.MAP". For a level mod, this would be "[insert level name here].MAP". Select your file and click OK. You should see the path for the file in the white box. Now for the mod. Click the floppy disk next to the "Patch" box. Browse to the .PPF file on your desktop. Select it, and click OK. Step 6: This step is probably the simplest of them all. Simply click "Apply". Some text will appear in the grey box underneath the apply button. You're all done! Launch up your Halo and enjoy your mod!! To un-install the mods, go to your "Backups" folder, right-click the file you want to restore, select Copy then go back to your MAPS folder and right-click and press Paste. You must over-write the existing file in your MAPS folder. Now you don't have the mod installed anymore

Here's a version i made in my own forums lol....which........dont worry...anyway here it is.....
Whats does PPF stand for? Its stands for "Playstation Patch File"
What is a PPF file used for? When someone has made a modded map and wants to pass it on to other people so they can play it. There is 2 different ways of passing the modd on to another halo player through email. NOTE: #3 is only an extra idea for passing files on. #1 Compressing the map file down to around 5-6Mb (for dial-up users, this can take 30 mins to download) #2 Create a PPF file and send that to other halo player. A PPF file is about 10Kb (it will take a dial-user 30 or less to download this) #3 Host it on a website
NOTE: Make a copy of the original map (eg: bloodgulch) and call it "bloodgulch.maporig" and when ever you need an original map duplicate it by selecting the file and typing (Command+d) It should come out something like "bloodgulch.maporigcopy" then you just delete the "origcopy" from the end and then you have your self a copy of the original. If you have modded your only original map you can't undo it, you will have to re-install halo. Rememeber if you get to having to re-install REMEMEBER to back up your modded maps, otherwise these will go with the re-install
How To Create a Patch in PPFMaster. By =ELF=Samuel
What you need: PPFMaster Original halo map Modified halo map
1. You need PPFMaster (I prefer PPFMaster to PPF-O-Matic, because it creates and patches, PPF-O-Matic only patches) 2. You need PPFMaster either on your desktop or applications folder. Otherwise it will not save when you go to save it! 3. Open PPFMaster. 4. In the "Original" section, select the original map. 5. In the "Modified" section, select the modded map you have created. 6. You DO NOT need to worry about putting anything in the "File_id.diz" section 7. Click "Make" select where you want to save the PPF file and your done!
