Sorry for not having contrib'd to this before...
The 'dedicated server' app is PC-only. You COULD run it using Virtual PC or Parallels Desktop, but the performance might be so slow so as to make it too laggy (since it's running windows virtually). If you're on an Intel Mac (like me) you could just reboot into Windows (with Boot Camp, free from Apple) and host it at full speed.
Of course, if you're like me, your Intel Mac is your gaming machine, and you don't want to use it as a server alone, so you'll never host a server.
As for the server that used to carry my name, that was a gift hosted by Aero. I never did more than watch over it occasionally.
