Came across a server today that was labeled as an SDTM server, and that had some SDTM maps, but also contained maps in it's rotation that were definitely not SDTM. These new maps had non-sdtm sniper rifles and many hidden portals. Edit: It was Slapaho's server, IP 69.59.105.174...
Okay, now here's why mislabeling your server as "sdtm" really sucks:
I joined Ice Fields and found it as it always is, SDTM version. The next map was Infinity, who's portals were missing and who's rifles were no longer modded. I came across one of my teammates, LIL SLIP hidden inside a rock at the enemy base, spawnkilling them with his pistol. I asked several times how he managed that, but received no answer.
The next map in the rotation, Blood Gulch, had the tank snipers again, but I was now on the opposite team from LIL SLIP, and noticed that he was porting up to the top of the cliffs without using the rock. I asked him where the new portals were, and again he refused to answer. Every "nice shot" got a "ty" from him, but every "where is that portal" got nothing. This was irritating, and finally I saw him run into red's cave, followed him, and saw him jump atop the rock and disappear. I was ticked that someone who knew the mod so well would simply refuse to tell anyone else where the portals were. He continued this practice heavily, spawnkilling and refusing to tell others.
The next map, Hang 'em High, again had non-tank snipers, and portals that lead up to the very very top of the map. LIL SLIP was spawnkilling insanely heavily now, and dozens of "FREAKIN TELL US WHERE THE PORTALS ARE" got nothing from him. He and his team knew the portals well, and all refused to say anything. Finally I happened to see him use one of them, then later another, then zs]Zero showed up to help me out and explain the portals.
It's been over a YEAR since I saw anyone on the SDTM server act as noobishly as LIL SLIP did, and the only reason he got away with is was because there was no way for us to learn the mod.
Please do NOT label your server "SDTM" unless every single map in the rotation was created by Skelito. If you decide to add new portals and change the weapons, remove the "SDTM" from your server's name. Doing otherwise is unfair to our regular members, who have no tutorial for your server.
Also, if you felt like doing me a personal favor, ban "LIL SLIP" on sight. I've never met someone so rude.
